A journey through the symbols of Sarajevo's resilience and beauty - from glacial springs and Roman bridges to the tunnel that saved a city, and the Olympic peaks above it all.
Explore the outskirts of the capital where history and nature collide. This tour takes you to the places that shaped Sarajevo - from the peaceful glacial spring where the Bosna River is born, to the tunnel that kept a city alive during its darkest days, up to the Olympic mountains above it all.
The Itinerary
At the foot of Mount Igman lies a stunning park where the Bosna River begins its long journey to the sea. Crystal-clear lakes, small waterfalls, and thousands of swans make this the most peaceful spot in the city. Enter via the Velika Aleja - a 3.5 km avenue lined with 3,000 chestnut and plane trees.
Just a short distance away is one of the most picturesque historical sites in the Sarajevo field. The Rimski Most (Roman Bridge) is a favourite of photographers - elegant stone arches reflected perfectly in the calm waters of the Bosna River, surrounded by weeping willows and meadows.
Experience the most important site of the 1990s Siege of Sarajevo. Walk through a preserved section of the 800-metre tunnel that was hand-dug beneath the airport runway to connect the besieged city with the outside world - bringing in food, medicine, weapons, and hope.
We head up into the clouds to the mountains that hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics. Visit the iconic ski jumps on Mount Igman and the snowy peaks of Bjelašnica. Depending on the season, you can walk among the abandoned Olympic ruins, breathe the crisp mountain air, or take in a view that stretches across half of Bosnia.
